The Owl of Minerva's watchful eye, ever vigilant, spreads its wings at the falling of the dusk.

Who am I?

Telling you would defeat the purpose of the pseudonym. Just know I go by Minerva. Don’t think of me as a person, think of me as guiding light, someone interested in illuminating the intricacies of American politics and spreading as much wisdom as possible.

I find the current quality of political writers and journalists quite lacking, so I am taking it upon myself to promote intelligent and truthful reporting and political commentary. I will always tell you what are the facts from my sources, and what are my opinions or commentary about current events.

Minerva's Watch strives to spread free information, fight against the rising tide of fascism, provide an alternative to mainstream media, and provides detailed analysis of US politics and World News through the lens of a young American leftist. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

My content:

I strive to provide free information to as many people as possible. As such, I will never paywall any of my main articles, essays, or commentary; the only content I plan to restrict is the Weekly Watch, which provides a brief summary of the big stories of the week (more world events, and more topics than just politics). However, because I want all my subscribers to be as informed as possible of the dangers posed to them in today’s political climate, I have a free version that specifically recaps any important US political events called Fascism Watch.

What makes me different than MSM journalists:

The mainstream media (Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, WaPo, NYT, etc.) has been so diluted by opinion pieces and entertainment over substance that I would hardly call them news anymore. It used to be that you could rely on certain journalists to speak their mind, regardless of the backlash they may face. That is worryingly absent in our current political landscape. A free press is necessary for the maintenance of a healthy democracy, and ours has been taken over by corporate interests.

Here are a few things that separate me from them:

  1. I will always provide the sources for my claims in the article, something that is frustratingly absent from many news websites. I also try to cite only primary sources whenever I can, such as press releases, research papers, and congressional bills; otherwise, I cite unbiased publications such as AP & Reuters.

  2. I don’t shy away from my opinions, and I will admit when I am wrong.

  3. I won’t insult your intelligence by dumbing down politics. Many publications and content creators opt for brevity over accuracy, and I refuse to do that.
